Palworld Complete Guide FAQ: Answering the Most Common Questions

2026-06-11·FAQ

So you jumped into Palworld and now you're staring at your screen wondering why your Lamball keeps getting murdered by a level 30 Syndicate Thug. Been there. This is the stuff the tutorials conveniently skip, which Pals actually pull their weight at your base, breeding combos that won't waste your cake, that kind of thing.

What Should I Do in the First 5 Hours?

Grab a Foxparks. I've found it's the single best early-game carry, its flamethrower ability melts everything through level 20, and the Huggy Fire passive turns it into a portable furnace so you can smelt ore without running back to base every 30 seconds.

But don't sleep on the basics. Catch 10 of every Pal species you see. The capture bonus XP from the first 10 catches of each species is how you actually level up fast, not grinding wild Pals. By level 15 you should have at least 5-6 species at capture bonus 10/10.

And honestly, build your first base near some ore nodes. The spot near the Desolate Church at coordinates 70, -400 has 6 ore nodes clustered together and it's flat enough that your Pals won't pathfind into oblivion. Coal and ore are the two resources you'll never have enough of, so planting yourself on top of ore nodes saves hours of manual mining later.

Which Pals Are Actually Worth Keeping at Your Base?

tbh half the Pals the community hypes up are kinda mediocre workers. After 200+ hours here's what I actually use.

Anubis is your craft-everything Pal. Handiwork 4 and Mining 3 means it cranks out items fast and mines ore when there's nothing to craft. Breed a Penking with a Bushi and you get one way earlier than you're supposed to. Jormuntide Ignis handles all your fire needs, Kindling 4 smelts ore and cooks cakes at a ridiculous speed. You find it at No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary up northeast. For medicine, Lyleen Noct is the one. Medicine 3 plus Handiwork 3, and it heals sick Pals overnight so you stop getting that annoying "Weakened" spam. Grab it from ice cave dungeons in the snow biome. Orserk is your power plant, Electricity 4 means one of these runs your whole base and your generator becomes a decoration. No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary. And Wumpo Botan for moving stuff around. Transporting 4 and Planting 2, handles your berry and wheat farms solo. Nature Preserve No. 2.

Not sure about this but I think a lot of people sleep on Wumpo Botan because it doesn't look impressive. It's deceptively good.

How Does Breeding Actually Work?

Every Pal has a hidden breeding power number. The game averages the two parents' breeding power values, then finds the Pal whose breeding power is closest to that average. That's the egg result. Not random, not based on types, pure math.

So if you want an Anubis early, and you should, breed a Penking with a Bushi. Penking's breeding power is 520, Bushi's is 640, average is 580, and Anubis sits at 570. This combo works the moment you hit level 19 and get the breeding farm.

But here's the part most guides skip, you can chain-breed passives. Catch a Pal with the passive you want, Swift, Runner, Ferocious, Musclehead are the combat core four, breed it into the species you want through intermediates, then breed two parents with complementary passives until the child inherits both. It takes 20 to 50 eggs on average to get a perfect 4-passive Pal. Build a cake farm before you start, you'll need 100+ cakes per breeding project.

What's the Best Order for Tower Bosses?

Zoe and Grizzbolt at the Rayne Syndicate Tower you can handle around level 12 to 15. Bring ground-types. Rushbolt is a water move on an electric boss so it catches people off guard. Stay mobile and dont facetank.

Lily and Lyleen at the Free Pal Alliance Tower needs about level 25. Fire-types shred this fight. Lyleen spams AOE grass moves so bring a flying mount to dodge the ground patterns.

Axel and Orserk at Eternal Pyre Tower, you want level 35. Ground or ice types. Orserk's lightning attacks have a tell, he raises both arms, so dodge sideways when you see the animation start.

Marcus and Faleris at the PIDF Tower, get to level 40 first. Water-types. Faleris has a dive-bomb attack that one-shots if you're underleveled. When it flies straight up, sprint perpendicular.

Victor and Shadowbeak at the PAL Genetic Research Tower is the endgame one, level 45 to 50. Dragon-types. Shadowbeak's phase 2 adds homing projectiles so use terrain pillars to break line of sight.

Honestly the jump from Marcus to Victor is the steepest difficulty spike in the game. Don't even bother trying Victor before 45 unless you enjoy getting deleted in 30 seconds...

What Should I Prioritize on the Technology Tree?

Ancient Technology Points are limited so don't waste them.

Egg Incubator at level 7 is non-negotiable, breeding is useless without it. Grappling Gun at level 17 changes how you move around the map, you'll use this thing for 100+ hours. At level 24 the Feed Bag lets you and your Pals auto-eat from one inventory slot which sounds minor but saves so much menu time. Breeding Farm at 27 is where you start your Anubis pipeline. Hyper Grappling Gun at 34 doubles the range and halves the cooldown. And Legendary Sphere at 44, you'll need 50+ of these for endgame catching.

I skip the Small Feed Bag at level 20 every time. It looks tempting but it only feeds you, the full Feed Bag at 24 feeds the whole party. Not worth the points.

Map Navigation: How Do I Get Around Without Dying?

The map is massive and fast travel points trickle in slowly as you explore. Craft a Nitewing saddle at level 15. Nitewing isn't the fastest flyer but it's available early and flies high enough to avoid most ground aggro. Upgrade to a Ragnahawk at level 37, faster and flies higher, and eventually a Jetragon at level 50 which is the fastest mount in the game and covers the whole map in under 2 minutes.

And a trick I wish I'd known sooner, you can grapple-slide. Fire the grappling gun, then immediately press crouch mid-pull. You'll launch forward at double speed and maintain momentum on landing. Combine this with the sliding mechanic and you can cross zones faster than most early flying mounts.

So when you're heading into the volcano or snow biome, bring a thermal undershirt for heat resist or cold resist. The accessories stack so double up in extreme zones. Mounts with the appropriate element resist passive like Ragnahawk for heat or Foxcicle for cold also help, but the undershirts are more reliable since mounts can get knocked out mid-flight.
